The Paintings of Julian Alberto Touceda takes us deeper into the sub-consciousness of childhood. When life was but a mystery and an unexplainable odyssey beneath the threshold of dreams and fantasies. But these artworks are more than just paint on canvas. They are but a reflection of the artist inner struggles. The psyche in constant battle to bridge across the real world, and the sub-conscious
.
Touceda's earliest body of works are an expression in the visual language of lines, forms, textures, shapes and surface flatness that echoes the great Spanish, and Latin American Masters. The influences of the Hispanic cultures run throughout Touceda's creations. The juxtaposing of the Latin American motif, and other natural images testified to our senses to connect with Nature and with the world's views of Art. But Touceda's appendage with the natural world is much more than symbolic glyphs. They are visual landscapes of clashing ideology that has effected his creations not just as an artist but as a Hispanic artist in the New Millennium. It is apparent in his works as he defines his duality with European cultures and his American identity. The images of the ancient lore of myths, tales of the Latin American Diaspora.
Julian Albert Touceda, lives in Austin, Texas. Julian left New Orleans after the destruction of the City by Hurricane Katrina. Julian Works for The U.S. Department Of Homeland Security in Austin, Tx.
