Joe Bolling

Age: 40, United States

Born in the Ukraine in 1812, Joe grew up in the wilderness, trapping for bears and wild boar, and occassionally venturing SouthWest into partially populated territories to trade for supplies. On one of these ventures, he met a beautiful and sophisticated young lady and fell in love. Though she moved on, and persuaded him to do the same, his undying passion spawned years of poetry carved into large stones and tree trunks across the Ukranian countryside. Needing larger tree trunks as his poetry skills increased, he ventured into very treacherous regions farther north. In 1968, his frozen body was discovered there by a team of archeologists searching for remains of the wooly mammoth. He was shipped to America, thawed, and an attempt to revive him was conducted in a joint effort with doctors and scientists of the former Soviet Union, West Germany, Sweden, and the United States. Though their efforts were considered a text-book success, some still question whether Joe is really the same man that he was at the time he was instantaneously frozen in the mid 1800's. "The quality of his poetry," they say, "is not consistant with his earlier works found carved into tree trunks." Scientists counter on an evolutionary premise that "poetry, like other things stored in oak containers, will greatly improve with age." When asked what his plans now are, Joe simply stated that he will continue to "rhyme all the world's words, one poem at a time." He also added that he wanted to spend a lot of time in the sun from now on. Joe can be contacted via email at joe@datatropic.com care of the Frozen Poet project team. Cards, letters, and gift donations are also appreciated.
